Visitor’s Guide

There are all kinds of Guide Books and Web Sites out there that can expertly tell you where to go, what to see and where to eat in Warsaw so here we will mostly stick to showing you Mariensztat Square but we will always be happy to guide you when you are here and tell you one or two of our favourite restaurants or bars. You’ll see looking at the maps that everything is fairly close, Warsaw is a very compact city from that point of view so we’ll list some of the main sites and an estimation of the best way it will take from Mariensztat.

Some Useful Links

So to help you plan your trip and time Warsaw here are a few useful links:

Warsaw Behind the Scenes

All of the above are easy to find yourselves but there is a lot lot more to Warsaw – the older tenements, it’s tragic recent history, it’s food and traditions …you might need some help find- ing on a shorter trip. In these situations we recommend our friend Marcin at Warsaw Behind the Scenes.

It’s a great tour in English which we’ve done ourselves – funny and informative you are taken around town in a special vehicle to places of interest including places to eat. All of our Guests who have gone have praised the tour wholeheartedly and because of this we are recommend- ing it to you, we don’t have any commercial interest. Marcin also has the number one rating in the Trip Advisor list of things to do so it’s not just our Guests who have enjoyed him. If you are interested let us know, he will come to Mariensztat to pick you up and looks after our Guests specially.
There are other walking tours from the Old Town which leave from the main square and you can find out about from the Tourist Information point in the main square.

Rent a Bike!

As long as you are careful hiring out a Veturilo bicycle is a great way to see the City, they work on the City Bike principle and the nearest stations from Mariensztat are by the University Library. Here is their site and it will tell you everything you need to know.

Getting Around Warsaw

This is a great site to help you plan bus and tram journeys with an English Language option, it’s so easy even we can use it!

Jak Dojadę

Eating, Drinking, Going Out…

A week doesn’t go by in Warsaw without a new restaurant, bar or club opening or closing and the English Language Warsaw Insider is the best way to keep up to date . The current issue is always available to look at online and it’s a good idea to have a look and plan your evenings before you come over. We usually have a copy of the Warsaw Insider magazine lying about the apartments for Guests (they sometimes go missing though)

We have a few favourite restaurants and bars of our own which we’ll be pleased to recommend and likewise if you discover a place you liked yourselves let us know.

Modlin Bus

Wizz Air, Ryan Air and a few other budget airlines mean that getting to Warsaw is easier and cheaper than ever but it does sometimes mean that you find yourselves at Modlin Airport and wondering how to get into town. Modlin Bus is a good option, specially if you book in advance online, here is the link
